Mike Davies
Careers in Energy Committee
Mike is part of the Careers in Energy Committee. He is a Petroleum engineer with several decades of experience across multiple plays in the Western Canadian Basin. In 2017, Mike pivoted to a business development role with a small US based company to lead the growth of their Canadian and Northern US business opportunities. Mike is currently leading the Business Development team at EVA by Turing Analytics, driving and supporting the software company’s rapid growth in Canada.
Mike has volunteered extensively over the years, including the organizing committee for both the Montney-Duvernay symposium (since 2018) and the SPE Data Science workshop (2023-24), helping organize technical talks and has moderated multiple panel sessions. Between 2021–24, he served as Chair Elect, Chair, and Past Chair for the SPE Calgary Section. Mike was also on the Board of Directors at the Calgary Winter Club for six years, serving as Finance Chair, President, and Board Chair. He has also mentored through the BMO Mentorship program for six years, working with seven mentees in that time.
Mike is passionate about the oil and gas industry and - as a parent of two post-secondary students - understands the challenges young people face in pursuing career opportunities. He aims to leverage both his enthusiasm for the sector and his extensive professional network to help open doors for students aspiring to join the energy industry.
