Mike Schofield
Chair & Careers in Energy Lead
Mike is the Chair of SPECEF and leads the 2023-2024 Careers in Energy Committee. He is a professional engineer with more than 17 years of experience in the energy industry including working on projects in Canada and internationally. In Canada, he worked in multiple technical roles in the oil sands for Shell and Statoil. Internationally, Mike worked for Canadian independents on brownfield redevelopment campaigns in multiple fields in Egypt.
Mike was raised in rural Alberta, near Grande Prairie and has always been interested in both business and science, making engineering an ideal career path. He is a believer in lifelong learning and has returned to school multiple times in his career to expand his professional horizons. Mike has a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Alberta, a Master of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from the University of Calgary, a post Diploma Data Analytics certificate from SAIT, and recently completed his MBA at Queen’s University.
