"I am a third-year Mechanical Engineering student studying at Memorial University. Hailing from Dhaka, Bangladesh, I set out for big dreams when I moved to Canada, which was to pursue a degree in a (traditionally, male dominated) field I am very passionate about, and care about the communities around me through volunteer work. Growing up, I knew a life without being involved in the application of science and engineering was not for me. That's what made me choose engineering, and it is amazing how it is ever-revolving, and how it is applicable to the lives around us. I really love the field I am studying in, which has also been able to give me real-life engineering experiences through my co-op work terms. As I progress through my degree, I anticipate more exposure in the energy industry. Getting this scholarship is very important for me, as it will help me financially through university and will let me focus more on my academic and extracurricular endeavors. It will also allow me to explore more pathways in the energy industry in the future as it is of interest to me. So I would like to thank SPECEF for granting me this scholarship, which will help me reach my goals and be a valuable community member in the Society of Petroleum Engineers."
