"As a Jordanian international student at the University of Calgary, I chose to study chemical engineering because I was fascinated by the processes that utilize our natural resources to create the many products we rely on. During my studies, I enjoyed being involved with the engineering community where I managed to build a chemical engineering team to participate in a competition hosted internationally.   

After my third year, I had the opportunity to intern at a major oil producer where I got to be involved in projects that had a direct impact on improving our environmental sustainability while learning about Canada’s vast and clean energy sector.  

I am very grateful to be a recipient of the 2023 SPECEF General Scholarship as it will allow me to confidently maintain my focus on my studies and extra-curricular involvement with the engineering community during the last year of my degree."
