Vasim Qureshi

Scholarship Committee

Vasim is part of the 2023-2024 Scholarship Committee. He is a Professional Engineer with over 40 years of oil industry experience internationally including North and South America, Far East, Middle East and North Africa. After obtaining his M.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech, he started his career as a Wireline Logging Field Engineer with Schlumberger, moving on to Log Analysis and Petrophysics. He has been working as a Consultant Petrophysicist for more than 10 years with various oil companies internationally.

Throughout his career, he has been keen on mentoring and teaching, conducting various industry training courses, including teaching at SAIT and lectures at University of Alberta. During the downturn in the industry after 2014, he wrote a “Basic Open Hole Petrophysics” course to help the transitioning young professionals and conducted the course on a voluntary basis through CWLS (now part of CEGA), which continued until 2017.

He firmly believes that making our oil industry green holds the key to a very bright future! We have examples of oil companies following this path in the past as far back as 2000 when BP became “Beyond Petroleum” from “British Petroleum”, with BP Solar as the anchor.

He is excited to join the SPECEF helping the Scholarship Committee in whatever way he can!
